WS 11: Everyday Ethics in Veterinary Medicine
The veterinary profession is in a crisis. The day to day stress and struggle of practicing medicine is, literally, killing veterinarians and staff. While strides are being made in education in areas like self-care, other topics are all too often overlooked. It has been estimated that nearly on out of every three decisions a veterinarian makes in their day is based on ethical issues. And yet, little is taught about ethics either in school or as continuing education. Come explore some of the day to day issues faced in veterinary clinics across the country and learn how to reconcile differing ethical/moral perspectives into a cohesive clinic wide “code of ethics” that leads to a better workplace experience for everyone!
